Guys, I took a test ride and drove this boat. I don't have the bank account to afford this model but I have to say this is the most impressive fishing machine I have driven, EVER!
The agility of this hull, designed from a blank CAD screen by a very talented naval architecture, Erwin, is astounding. Heck I talked to Erwin for an hour just asking questions to understand how he thought through the design choices. He's invested over 12 months working this design. The result is awesome. I've driven pod boats and I've been impressed with their manuverability but to take a boat this size and get it to back down at over 12 knots and spin faster than anything else along with the stability it provides; this is a whole new ballpark folks. The team at Release have started something which I predict will be a big winner. Yes, the 46 is a very expensive package so there will be those who judge "who cares", I can't afford it. Think again, the boys at Release have a 34 designed which they'll power with a single turbo diesel with bow thruster. This model is projected to cruise at 32mph burning 16 GPH. I can't wait to see it. I've got to believe that will be another gamechanger.

KMO: Excellent review thanks. I've had my eye on this build for some time now, and was anxiously awaiting some first hand feedback.

I too have been watching this thing since it's inception. Like any new boat they had to rush to get it to the show but wow, did they hit it on the head. It even has "pitch bait" livewells in the bow for the tournament sailfish guys. Backing into the slip the prop wash was absolutely amazing. This thing was designed for catching sailfish and chasing fish down. 14 kts in reverse! By far the most impressive new boat at the show.

Hammer

ps. I'll be fishing it in April in the Tortugas
, I'll give a REAL WORLD account of the trip. I will hold nothing back, good or bad.

Let me know if you have any questions about the boat, I am a broker with Release. Yes we had to work 14 hour days, 7 days a week to get this boat to the show but it will be 100% complete in the next 2 weeks.

The boat is very impressive, if anyone would like to see it or go for a sea trial, just give me a call and it will be arranged, the boat will speak for itself.

I spoke to Dennis on Friday. We'll be down on this coming Friday. Can't wait to see the factory and the boat

What is the history on the guys building at release?

From what I can tell this is hull 1, and for the price tag there may be more proven custom options.

Don't get me wrong the boat is drop dead gorgeous.

I think the backing of release and many of the folks there have history working and owning some of the nicest builders in the industry. Can't remember the names or exact relationship but it was old school and they know their stuff. With that said this is a fishing boat first and made to log some serious hours on the bank or canyon each season. Maybe somebody will chime in that knows the specifics.

Jim Turner who owns Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala owns Release boatworks. He owns Merritt's, Rybovich's, Gamefisherman's, etc. He wanted to build a modern version and keep all the best attributes that these boats have become famous for. The designers of the boat have worked for Rybovich for years and the man that built the molds is the same gentleman that built the original 17 aquasport, 28, 31, and 54 Bertram's. It is pretty safe to say that their is a extensive team of builders that have plenty of experience

The 46 starts at about $1 Million with the big QSM 11's. The way that particular one is loaded with electronics, tower, teak toe rail, covering boards, extra fuel, ice makers, watermakers, etc is about $1.3
