Default Need New Boat Lift Cables - Have Question

Time to replace cables. Using 5/16" stainless wire rope and was wondering what's typically used for stainless - 304 or 316? Most vendors don't seem to list the type of stainless they are selling for some reason.

Also, wondering how the cable end is terminated inside of the drive pipe. The only thing I have is a cable heading into the pipe and I can't figure out how it is terminated. Doesn't look like there's any access to that end of the cable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You can get to the end of the cable by looking down the center of the pipe it is running into. Sometimes you will need a coat hanger to fish it out once you get all the tension off the cables. There is probably a metal crimp on the end to keep it from fishing back through the hole.

I buy my boat lift supplies from

https://fixmarinesupply.com

They are in Cape Coral so it would be next day ups ground to BG.

They have good prices and good quality stainless cables. I did both my lifts with their cables last year.

Thanks for the info. I ended up replacing all 4 cables today. Not too bad of a job and turned out well.
