Leaning post bar split- prob from ice? I have a very nice Birdsall leaning post on my Whitewater in Montauk, NY. The bar that keeps the cooler from sliding into the drivers feet has a 1.5 inch split in it. It is not at the weld and is on the top of the pipe. I guess that the big stansion filled up with water enough to fill the horizontal pipe and it split over the winter. I have no idea how the water got in there. In addition, I have zero desire to remove the whole leaning post and have it welded (at least right now).
2 questions:
Is there an epoxy or like product to seal the split ? Or should I just take duct tape and put it over the hole.
ANyone else have this problem? SHould I drill holes in the legs for water to drain?
Thanks. |
