History
Boat was bought by the son of the Boston Whaler Dealership owner in 2001. Since his dad owned The Outboard Shop he easily took care of all the maintenance and kept this boat in fantastic shape. He stored the boat at a dry dock facility and only put aprox 200 hours four years. Boat was always washed and motors flushed after saltwater use.

Since I use a boat mainly on fresh water I was not looking for a boat that had been used primarily in salt water. This boat was in great shape and very little sign of salt water use.

I bought boat in 2005 and use it for aprox 145 hours at our lake house on Lake Murray. We use on the weekends and store it on the trailer covered. We have used it in salt water about three times, but we washed the boat and flushed the motors after use. Yamaha Ring Free fuel additive has always been mixed with my gas and the only two stroke oil I ever use is Yamalube. I probably have spent more time cleaning the boat then I have using it. The boat and motors are in fantastic shape and have been a very dependable. I do not have to say anything about Boston Whaler’s reputation for building exceptional boats. These Yamaha motors have also a great reputation for being long lasting. The boat I had previous had the exact same 150 HP ox66 Salt Water Series motor in which I never had any problem with. I can not think of a better combination.

FYI: I was told by the previous that this boat has never been wrecked or damaged and I never have found any signs indicating it either. This boat has never had any problems to my knowledge. It has never left me stranded and always cranks first time.
I am selling because I sold my lake house. I am now looking to get a Montauk to use in a small lake and this boat would be to big.

Maintenance completed end of summer 2006
Filled boat’s gas tank with 166 gallons of gas, Yamaha Ring Free fuel additive, and Yamaha fuel stabilizer.
Boat was washed and waxed
Motors: Both motors the gear oil changed, new spark plugs, new thermostats, pistons fog before winterizing, and motors greased.
Starboard motor replaced water pump.
Port motor’s water pump was not replaced because the old water pump in the starboard motor was in great shape and didn’t need to be replaced. I do have all the parts however for replacing the water pump in the port motor.
Took batteries and put them on a trickle charger over the winter.
Trailer: bearing grease added and break fluid

I know this boat very well and here is a list of anything broken, abnormal, or things you should know.
1st You must cut battery switch’s off when not using for a day or so because one starboard battery’s charge will drain. Some thing is pulling power from battery when switch is left on and I am not sure what it is. Problem a light left on or a switch left on.
2nd CD player has a disk stuck inside. You can listen to that disk or the radio which works.
3RD Foot rest stops need to be wielded on the helm seat. The foot rest swivels all the way towards the floor instead of stopping in the correct position.
4th The anchor storage’s hatch at the bow of the boat shuts and remains shut great. The lock under the hatch is broken.
These are the only four things that I know of.

I have one with twin 130 Yamahas. I have always pined for the 150's though. Just can't justify re-powering. That is the perfect set-up. Whoever gets her will be one happy customer.

Would you consider selling me the pup tent and cover separately?

I have a 2004 17 montauk (fishing package, console and seat covers, winter cover, Garman GPS) with 90 merc (2 stroke - 60 hours) and would consider a trade. I have 6 kids and the Montauk is too small - although I love the boat. It is complete with trailer package - runs great, looks brand new and was well taken care of. Would you consider a deal? The value of the Montauk is around 18.5K. The rest would be cash.

Would you consider a deal?

Tempting. Can you email me pics? [email protected] Where are you located?

Sure - It may take me a day or two, but I can send you pix. I live in NJ, but that is not a problem. I am urrently looking at a new 24 outrage with twin 15 verados, but it is a bit out of my price comfort zone. I also was considring a trade on the 17, and the dealer (who I bought it from) offered me 17K. And that's a dealer who would turn a profit.
If we can put something together, I would arrange to transport the 17 to you and then trailer the 23 back to NJ.
I am sure you will like the Montauk - it's as clean as it gets - and runs great. The only problem I ever had with it is the edge of the sticker (Mercury) on the throttle became unglued - I replaced it. The cusions, including bow, are in perfect. Well - I'll send you the pix as soon as I take them and you can see for yourself.

How many people is the 23 certified to carry? I need to have a capacity of 8.

My boat is at my inlaws lake house, so I can not go and look at the capacity plate right now. I am however almost positive that it is twelve people. If not twelve then it is eleven. I just asked my wife and she said she was positive that it is 12.

This last weekend I went up to their lake house and fogged the motors, added fuel stabilizer, and took the batteries out to keep them on charger.

The 240 Outrage is what I orginally wanted. They are very nice and I have spent plenty of time sitting on them while parked in the dealer's parking lot. We have loved our 23 Outrage and have not regretted the decision at all. We also looked at the older 24 Outrages which were nice also. We liked the swim platform which the older 24s did not have.

Tell me about your more boat. I am assuming you use it in saltwater. Can you tell me how it is stored also? On trailer, dry stack storage, or is it kept in the water? Is bottom painted? How many hours? I love info and would like to hear all about your boat.

That is a nice looking set up. I have a 1998 BW ventura 20 (dual console by-rider type) w/ 175hp johnson ocean runner, would this be of interest to you for some type of trade on your lake. I can get pics if it would fit your need . I am in central FL.

tprice,
Just go ahead and bite the bullet. You will love being behind the helm of this Outrage. This boat is very stable, powerful, dependable, and filled up with 166 gals. of gas. I will hate seeing it go.

KS, I have a 2003 220 Dauntless that also was draining the batteries quickly if not used. The culprit was the Clarion CD player. It seems that it draws enough current keeping the station presents active that it would drain the batteries. Mine was originally wired so that it was still drawing a current even though the battery switches were in the OFF position. The dealer rewired it so that the CD player is now without power when the battery switch is turned to the off position. Clarion even has this in its FAQs on it's Marine radios on it's web site. Hope this helps

Good luck selling her.
