I am going to experiment with wire line trolling this year and need to buy a 9/0 - 12/0 Penn Senator. I will buy outright or I have some nice rods to trade if interested. I am looking on Ebay as well but THT is a good source. Thanks.

how much wire are you using ? 9/012/0 seems like overkill we use those for planer rods

It isn't necessarily the line capacity but the drag capacity. The purpose is offshore trolling at speeds anywhere from 9 knots to 16 knots. I think 9/0 is the minimum and I really would like something a little larger than 9/0 but that will work.
I won't put planers on it but trolling lead and a wahoo lure.

wire likes to hum badly at those trolling speeds. most just add the troll weights to reg rig ,we use 9/0 and 50 to 80 lb mono for the high speed rigs

I have a 9/0, rigged with 100 lb wire. It is on a 5'6" "economy" standup rod. The whole setup, new, probably cost $250. It has been used once.Would be interested in a rod trade.

I got a lightly used 12/0 and a heavy rooler rod I have set up with 200 power pro insttead of wire. Its just too much rod for my little boat. I can email you some pics and make me offer.

I was able to get one on Ebay pretty cheap.(well under $100). My purpose is that I won't use this outfit too much and didn't want to spend alot on something that I may not even like. Thanks for all the offers and help.
