OK,

I have a 5 degree radar mount that was custom made for a Raymarine Pathfinder radome. After I purchased it for $180 I found another radar mount that was Identical (and a tad more expensive) but powder coated instead of painted.

So now, I have this one that I never used and never will use. Make me a FAIR offer and it's yours.

Things to consider before saying I will give you $50 for it.

1. $50 is not a reasonable offer.
2. It's custom made out of aluminum
3. It has a anchor light pole included (no anchor light, you can supply that)
4. It has never been mounted or even test mounted for that fact.

Thank you,

Would I be correct to assume a serious owner would desire to have it stripped and then powder coated. That would be easy for me but why would someone just paint it? I will be installing radar soon. Any way to figure out which radomes will fit this unit, or must it be a Raymarine?

As far as paint vs. powder coat. It’s personal preference. I chose to powder coat because I am considering powder coating my hard top.

This particular mount will fit stock on Raymarine Pathfinder. Supposedly some other brands fit this too. I’ll give you some dimensions.

Base – the part that gets mounted to the hard top or radar arch is 9X9. (most are 7x7 this is overbuilt as per my specs)
The riser – 4” in diameter (again, this is overbuilt as per my specs)
The radar mount (kind of oval shaped) 10 ½ wide X 13 ½ deep.

Depending on the radar you choose. The existing holes may work stock, or you could drill your own.

PM me with any other questions.

Thanx,

PS> Holy Smoke, I noticed that you offered $50. The $ and number 4 share the same key. I assume that you just kept you finger on the shift key by accident. Am I to assume that you meant $450. ;)

Paint is just as good.

Headhunt,

I should not have said paint is just as good. My bad. But here's the skinny on it, it's painted with a two part epoxy not regular paint. Two part epoxy adheres to aluminum better and it's much tougher. Two part epoxy cost $150 a gallon. The mount is also built from marine grade alulminum. All this is top quality stuff.

When I said that this was custom built to my spec, I wasn't kidding. You can buy similar looking mounts for about the same $ but this is a much higher quality mount than most.

Thanks Dave, it is a very nice looking mount. I am just exploring options for getting radar onto my soft-top.

My radar arch is 9" between tubes. Will this fit? If so, consider it sold.

A serious owner would get one made from stainless steel.

Lou,

If your arch tubes are 9" apart you should just mount an aluminum plate then bolt the mount to the plate.

Let me know if you are still interested. I am not sure how you are trying to mount this. PM me with more details please.

My point is powder coating sucks. Paint on a boat will eventually fail. Looks good for a few years and then all down hill from there. Go with anodized aluminum or stainless. If you're going to strip this thing and get it repainted, why not pay about $50 more and get a polished st st one instead.

CMP, if I remember correctly, some of your comments in the past were a little off the wall also.

Dave, powdercoating sucks? LMFAO! That's funny. I happen to own a powder coating line as part fo my business. It's far better than any other coating out there. To say it sucks is kinda like dumb Sox fans saying the Yankees suck. It's just silly. It ain;t perfect, but it doesn't suck.

Hey Bare, ya dopey redneck BASTID, where you been hiding? Shelter Island? Isn't that where the homos hang out? I'm not insinuationg nuttin' of course, but... Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Trying to getting this thread back on target:

Looking at the picture, it looks like there is a screw that you could remove and put a white plug in its place.
