HELP!!!! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THE YAMAHA 150 HPDI. IS IT AS BAD AS THE HIGHER HP HPDI MOTORS??? I AM LOOKING AT A BOAT THAT COMES WITH IT AND I AM THINKING ABOUT ASKING TO SWITCH TO THE F150 4 STROKE.

Its a good motor. No problems like the bigger ones of yesteryear. All caps means you're yelling. The four stroke is a good motor also, but may lack just a little in the low range compared to the HPDI.

Bullet proof engine. You should be able to get a much better price on it than the 4 stroke as well, they've been out of production since 05.

the 150 hpdi is a very good engine.with that said before buying take it to a yamaha tech who knows hpdi's & have him look at it.you should do that with any used engine. if engine is new make sure the full warranty is in effect. good luck

As stated, these are great motors. I did lots of research with my recent purchase. The HPDI 150's and 200's are very good motors. I ended up with twin 200. The issues started with the 250 and 300 hp ones.
Good luck

I've got twin HPDI 150s. Agree with all posted above, they are beautiful motors. Do get the regular maintenance from a legit Yamaha shop.
Sorry my wife tells me not to type in all caps, but I didn't believe her. I am still undecided.
I forgot to mentioned that I have three girls and one with asthma, so a 4 stroke with less smoke might be better for her. Thanks, JACV
Don't worry......you'll be YELLING at your wife..........once she realizes how much boats / fishing costs !!
FWIW.....I'm very happy with my new /used 150 HPDI's !!!
