I'd like to loan my EPIRB to a friend for his Bahama trip. Can I temporarily change the registration information? Is it done at the same site I used to register it to me? And does anyone have a link to that site handy? Thanks!

The way I understand it, if he ends up settin the thing off...the USCG will call your contact numbers, and you can explan the situation then. I think you are asking for trouble (by getting the info all screwed up) by trying to change it to him, then back to you in a short period of time. The thing will work regardless of the info on the registration...and even if they don't get a hold of you, when the C-130 flys out to find him, I don't think they will look down at a burning boat (or whatever) and think "Thats not the boat the EPIRB is registered to...lets go home!"...
But to answer your question better:
http://www.sarsat.noaa.gov/beacon.html
there is a contact link on there where you can ask the experts the question...

Look, it is extremely easy to loan out an EPIRB. The above scenario is true as long as the EPIRB is not re-registered. In fact every time you go out you can re-register your EPIRB to reflect the trip plan that you are on. An EPIRB registration expires about every 2 1/2 years so you are a least re-registering it this much. The easiest and fastest way to re-register an EPIRB is to go to our site www.lrse.com and click on beacon registration. This will link you directly to NOAA's EPIRB web registration. So if you loan out your EPIRB to your friend make sure he re-registers it, and when you get it back make sure you re-register it with the proper information. I hope this helps.
