I just got a new boat with Yam 250 fourstroke. What is the deal with the fuel? do you need to run the 89 octane? I heard it is recommended. Is that like the 275 verado where the 93 is required for it to reach hp output?
any comments?? want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Should be in your manual as far as octane goes, someone will chime in on that. Side note; unless they changed the design wait at least 30 seconds after putting the lower unit under water before starting. Some people have reported that it takes a little time for the air to purge and not waiting resulted in burnt impellers. Otherwise they seem to be great motors with little complaints, good luck with it.
