Just started using braided line for bay fishing for bass, perch, cats. Is it best to tie a mono leader to the braided line or just braided line directly to my lures? If leader, how much length and what type of knot is best for braided line? Thanks.

I think it's best to tie a mono/fluoro leader to the braid (18 inches)... Use a uni/uni knot--coated with a little super-glue--and it will cast smoothly!

You will hear opinions both ways. Some guys are convinced that fluoro is necessary, others will say they don't miss strikes by tying the braid to the bait.
I use mono as it gives you some "stealth", but more importantly acts as a shock absorber. Remember braid does not stretch
I use about 4-5' of 25# Big Game. When it gets nicked, you can cut it off a few times before replacing. Unit to uni
