Evinrude has won the J.D. power and associates for the highest customer satisfaction in 2-stroke outboard's. The were followed by Yamaha which won the 4-stroke division.
Congratulation's to Bombardier for building Evinrude back to where it once was.

Was this for a specific hp or dispacement category or for all of their 2 strokers?

according to J.D. power they said for all 2 stroke outboard. I don't know if they are including Johnson or not but still a huge turnaround for bombardier to go from bankrupt to the best.
Congrats to Yami for thier 4- stroker's

JD Powers, Good Housekeeping and all those other things like that. The manufacture pays for that stuff.
I'm not knocking Bombider here. just that I don't hold alot of faith in these awards.

For me it is nice to hear something good about a U.S. manufacturer that makes a good product. I've always had great luck with Evinrude and Johnson engines and question those that criticize everything that is U.S. Made. I've only had good luck with Evinrude, Johnson, and Mercury engines. I've never owned anything else outside of the U.S. but I've been happy with the duribility of my Evinrudes.

Russ, you need to wave two flags here....it took Canadian management to save what US management had been screwing up... http://thehulltruth.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question!

The JD powers award was based on a random survey done by JD powers. Bombardier won the award without any help from advertising or paying for the survey.

It is nice to see someone take something away from Yamaha.

Bombardier is managed by a Canadian, but the heart and soul of the product development for marine products is by people in the US.

Congradulations! Evinrude cut the biggest check! This J.D. guy never asked me how I liked my outboard. Its also great to see a U.S. Made product back on top. Also great to see Tiger Woods, the first black man to dominate the PGA. He is 100 percent black isnt he????

OMC wasn't ruined by American management , it was ruined by a corporate raider by the name of Soros. The original FICHTS were forced to the market before they were ready and the rest is history.

The Evinrudes are definitely the best now. I am starting to see alot more of them on the water now.

George Soros has donated a lot of his personal money (Billions), time and energy to some very charitable and worthly causes. To simply call him a "corporate raider" is unfair. He's someone I admire and I think others would agree if they knew him a little bit better.

Thanks . . . however remember that Bombardier internationally has about 35% international staff including a "more than a few good boys" . . . good documentary done on them on PBS last year . . . showed cooperation and respect . . . best show in a long time . . .

"it's great to see US Made product back on top"

Back on top of what? As far as I know, there are very few top line boats even offered w/OMC products. There on their second effort DFI, make no 4-strokes at all. Tell some working guy that owned a couple of $12,000 Ficths and is still making pmts. no them about Evinrude being back on top. I'll bet there are more than a couple of Fitch owners that would like to be "on top" of an Evinrude executive!

If it weren't for YAMAHA, you Fitch guys would still be climbing back in the boat to trim up your motors.

Let's not forget, multi-function guages
oxygen sensors
computers
Flush port

When JD Powers starts making my boat payments, I'll pay more attention.

FITCHED AGAIN

The people they poll must be the same groups that support special interest. I'll believe what they say when they poll either me, or someone I know.

Any one on here ever been sent a JD Powers survey?

Did they say that half of the credit went to the four stroke motors? Made by hmmmmmm.

Good Luck

I've seen a JD Powers boat survey and received a car survey a few years ago. You might think of surveys as political polls, etc. but the Powers one was a questionaire with matter of fact questions.

Actually the boat survey was mostly questions about the boat and asked what make motor, what size, any problems, if so how many, were they taken care of the first time, etc.

The JD Power survey is similar to the Consumer Reports survey that asks about problems with product that you have. In both cases, the companies tabulate the answers and present them.

If you consider wacko gun control groups a worthy cause. I don't.

Just for the record, OMC was ruined by OMC. Don't blame anyone other than the suck-fish lawyers and accountants who had been running the company in the early 90s for its demise. It's a sad, pathetic story.

Another thing: JD Power's awards are usually based on initial customer satisfaction. That's pretty bogus, don't you think? Who cares about how something is running the first few months (which in the case of most boats is the first few hours) of its operation? The real story emerges two or three or four or more years later.
That's not to say that the JD Power awards do not have merit. They do have some. But they need to better help buyers predict how a boat or motor will perform during a long (at least three or four years) period.
