I'd like to thank those of you who contributed to all of the information that I've read here over the past few months during my boat selection process. This site has helped to answer a lot of questions I've had as well as verify info from other sources. I elected to go with a Sailfish 218CC with a Yamaha 225 four-stroke for my first boat. I just got it back from having the electronics installed and can't wait to get out there. Here are some pictures to share my excitement. :)

Very nice. It should fly with that f225. I will pull the trigger soon. Have to sell my Pathfinder first but I have several good prospects. Then I have to make up my mind between the SF 218cc, SF 236cc, Contender 21 0r Contender 23. The only items to work out in my mind are $$$ and towing capacity.
Good Luck and give us some performance numbers.

Sure thing! I expect to get out this weekend and now that I'm past the 2-hour mark on the engines I'll be able to see what she can do and report back.

 Nice
Wow... beautiful rig, and nicely setup! The Sailfish 206 CC is one of the boats on our short-list. They have really nice layouts, and the hull design makes for a great ride (I hear). Good luck with her!

Thank you. It's a DSM 300 - I decided to go ahead and go with that one versus the 250 since I'm primarily planning to bottom fish in the Gulf. Also, it's tough to make out from the picture but those are two C-80's ... the E series would have been even more overkill for that size boat .

Beautiful rig! Looks like you rigged it with some nice electronics as well. Give us a report after your first thing.

Fantastic boat! What a great choice to start out with. The electronics setup looks shape.
I'm curious about your electronics would you mind describing them. It appears you have 2 Raymarine C series displays as well as another Raymarine control panel between them and a circular white panel next to the radio.
Enjoy you new ride - it is going to fun.

The displays are two Raymarine C-80's with an Alphanumeric Keypad connected to the plotter for entering waypoints (if anybody knows how to get one keypad to work for 2 displays - one a plotter and the 2nd a fishfinder - please let me know - my local experts tell me the keypad must be dedicated to one). The GPS receiver is a Raystar 125 and the fishfinder is a DSM300 / M260 (1000w) setup. The circular white panel you mentioned is the wired remote for the CD player. No radar yet ... I'm going to use it a bit and then decide if I should get it for this boat.
. I mis-spoke in my previous post. I meant to say that I chose the 1000w over the 600w ... not the DSM300 over the 250.

The boat was purchased from Bluewater Yacht Sales in Mobile, AL ... the buying experience was awesome.
The electronics were purchased from George's Marine Electronics in Pensacola, FL ... also a great buying experience.

Great boat and electronics set up - you chose wisely all the way around.
However, it certainly does not belong sitting in the backyard - get it launched!! :)

browning,
Thats a beautiful 218 you got there. Me and my dad are shopping for 21ft CC's and this is at the top of our list. How fast with the F225? Good luck with the boat...nice electronics package too a radar would ice it all!

The boat will run about 51 MPH with the proper prop, 14 1/4 X 20 when loaded with fuel and one person on board.

Yep. That's what's in the boat.
Thanks for everyone's kind words. It's my understanding that after the motor has around 10 hours on it, it will be fat-and-happy, loosen up a bit, and give me true performance numbers. I've got 3 on it so far and I will report back once I have a chance to see what she'll do.

During the early stages of searching for a dealer to purchase from, I spoke to a salesman and asked him if it was possible to get a Verado on the Sailfish and he said that it was. However, I don't know anything more than that because I never looked into this option any further after finding an existing setup with a F225 all ready to go. It was my understanding that in order to get a specific engine, your dealer would order a new boat from Sailfish (Seminole Marine) and then add the engine afterwards on your behalf.
Take that with a grain of salt and be sure to do some additional research given that salesmen love to sell ... imagine that.

Nice 1st boat!!! Today I would be embarrassed to post a picture of my 1st one. But it was all mine. I didn't have the console room for electronics. Hell, it didn't have a console. 14' flatboat w/9.9 Evinrude, but it was sweet!!!!

Congrats on the new boat. I just got the 206. I saw they were outfitting the 218 with 150's and thought that would be considerably under powered. That thing will run very nicely.

How Cool is that! The admiral and I will be riding over to Bluewater Marine tomorrow to pick up our first boat. We went with the 218 WAC and the 200 HPDI. I am glad to hear others have had a good experience with them(bluewater). I will see you on the water here in Gulf Breeze, perhaps we can start the local novice sailfish owners club.

Tell Forrest hello for me ... I've known him since childhood and was accidentally reunited with him after I decided on a Sailfish and found out that he owns a local dealership when I starting looking at whom to purchase from. He's a good guy.
Good luck with the new boat and I'll see you on the water. :)

Great choice and setup for a first boat. And a second boat. And a third boat . . . . .
Good luck with her. Now go get her bloody.
