Just wondering if there are any creative ideas for mounting a trolling motor on a boat with a high bow? Anything stout enough for an offshore mostly boat? Maybe I should just hang one off the transom?? One draw back to the upswept bow design of the panga.. Arlon

arlon,

With your application I would get a transom mount. Inexpensive, but not as efficient as a bow mount.

How often will you use it and for what?

Mostly want to use one for sneaking around offshore structure or to stay in place over the same. This weekend we fished a huge weed mat and it would have been real handy to have had a trolling motor to fish it like lilly pads from a bass boat. Also don't want to add any more weight to the back of the boat if I can help it. It's already got a 600lb diesel, two batteries and a 9.9 yamaha (in the garage) soon to be added. Ocassional use in the bays would be a plus..

Bow doesn't look any higher than a 18' Parker which a friend and installed one on, works beautifully.

how about an "engine mounted" trolling motor.
I don't have any experience with them, but it might work.

Looks like it mounts to the cavitation plate, so it would be out of the way pretty good.

I have a MinnKota 33AT on an folding mount. It's extendable out to 33 inches. Something like that should work for you but you might want more thrust.
