From the manual it looks like changing gear oil, crankcase oil, and checking fuel filter for water is all that is required for this initial service. Can anyone confirm this? The dealer wants 400$ plus where I could certainly do it for less than a hundred.

do it yourself and keep the receipts for the materials you bought - if I do a 100 hr check on my engines it's like 600 - when I do all that you listed myself - the dealer charges me about 150....and that's just to hook up the computer to clear the faults and doublecheck everything...

Thats about it. You can do it yourself, but keep records and receipts. And MOST importantly use Yamalube products and put Ring Free in your gas!
