In keeping with the spirit of LuckyLaRue's thread, what was the first car you ever had?
Mine was a '69 Mustang convertible, 302 2V, I got when I was 16 (1977)

Datsun 520

Actually saw a wreck in 1986--years later--and it was my old Datsun 520--finally destroyed.

This pic is from wiki--but the same sick pea green color.

Once--on I-75 in Atlanta a coolant hose ruptured and filled the interior with hot steam.

That was an exciting event during rush hour. I-75 was a four lane then.

A 1972 Vega GT that was given to me by my older brother. It had a dead engine. My high school autoshop teacher helped me shoehorn a 283 small block and turbo 350 trans into, using a Motion Performance Super Vega kit. It wasn't excatly "fast" by even the standards of the day, but it sure surprised the hell out of the emasculated (smog-era) Trans Ams and Camaros of the day.

This is a cool post!!!

I originally was loaned a 73 Ford econoline van, it had a 302 with a 3 speed on the column. That van would smoke the tires as long as I held the pedal to the floor! The first car I purchased was a '79 Ford Mustang with a 4 cylinder engine and a 4 speed manual tranny. No A/C.....it was cheap, reliable and fun to drive....for an 18 y/o. Traded that for a 79 Camaro with a 350..it was time for speed.

1980 Ford F100 straight 6 beater.
Motor would burn a quart of oil every fill up, wouldn't shut off when you turned the key off, window handle broke, door handle broke, holes in the floor and bed, tailgate wouldn't open, every part of the truck was dinged up, but would start every day and would do brake stands.

A girl I dated once had an X1/9...she loved its looks, and hated to drive it for some reason. I thought it was a blast...but it was starting to get long in tooth by the late 1980s, as our salted roads weren't kind to its bodywork.

Mine was a 1970 Camaro z28 my dad bought for me when I was almost 15. That was 1985. He paid $1500 for it. It was a train wreck. He and I spent literally hundreds of hours in the garage rebuilding it. Now that he has passed, I wouldn't trade the memories of those late nights for all the money in the world. I couldn't find a midnight blue pic, so use your imagination. That car got me my first piece of tail, just as my father predicted it would.

Mine was a 3 year old 1979 Pontiac Sunbird Hatchback with the 85 hp 4-cylinder engine, no: a/c, power windows or locks; and white-wall tires with nice plastic hub caps.
It was a beauty - a lot like the one in the attached photo except it didn't have spoiler, aluminum rims and was beige with a nice brown vinyl interior. I think it did 0-60 in about 12 seconds and topped out at about 80-85 mph.
Boy I don't miss that pos, but it was a car and it was mine:(

'60 Ford 2-dr. sedan (whatever the cheapest model was then - Fairlane?), all white w/medium blue interior, 6-banger w/Foxcraft 3 on the floor. ;cool; Dad surprised me with it - $275, BUT I had to pay him back AND pay for ALL the maintenance, gas, oil, and insurance. ;? Since I was working part-time at Safeway while in high school, I was rollin' in dough at $1.60/hr. x 20+hrs./week (1962).

Pushbutton on the "Ford" emblem on the dash was hooked to a 6V "OOOOOOOOGHA" horn that ran on the 12V system, so I had THAT goin' for me! :roll:Q

Don't have a pic of it, although it was not really THAT "photogenic".

It was a good car, though - never a problem and it would "chirp" the 2 gear real nice!
