Thinking of going out this Sunday. Does anyone have recent info on the ramp (is it open?) and Cat Island Isaac impact?

Pass harbor ramp is open. Roscoes has bait also. I havent been to cat since isaac but I ran out to the east marsh last friday and it was windy and the water was dirty. We couldn't find the fish.

thx for report cap. I was worried about the water quality, it's been dirty by my place near the mouth of the Pearl. Primarily going to cat for recreation purposes, was wondering how the beaches fared, especially at the spit and Smuggler's Cove at the SE corner.

It seems that the fish have alreadt started to move do to weather change fished hard last week and only found a few near cat and LA Marsh. Beaches near Smugglers Cove are relativly unchanged a shallow bar has started to form about 1/4 mile out along east beach running from smuglers cove south tip to north tip. Other than that cat seemed to fair well from Isaac.

I'd appreciate any thoughts that anyone has regarding going out to Cat Island -- haven't been yet, but if we get a perfect weather day, I'd like to go -- would be crusing in 19'8 Sea Ray bow rider.
Any thoughts, suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

Should be an easy run this weekend, seas are predicted to be 1ft or less, 'course that could change. When we go to recreate (picnic lunch, lay around and be lazy), we like the east beach and the west side of the spit to raft up, and we wander along the whole south side too. If you get the right conditions, like nice water clarity, the whole experience is much nicer than the coastal beaches.

Cat is real shallow all around it. Be careful and don't run a ground. Hopefully you have an updated chart on your gps or in hand.

That is very true, more so on the north side. I'll be in the whaler though, it does ok in skinny water.

Sounds like takings 19 foot bow rider out there in good weather should be a problem?
