Hey I have come across a close out of Quantum Boca Rods. They retailed for $139 and i can pick some up for $50 each. It is the 15-30 offshore model fast taper 7' rod (BCOC7030A). I believe this is a jigging rod but im not really sure what jigging is? Would this be any good as a live bait rod for sails? Also anyone have any experience with the quality of the quantum boca rods??
Thanks in advance for the help/ advice

I don't own any but for 50 bucks I would give them a serious look. Is the store a national chain? I have four of their Cabo reels that have been flawless.

I have 9 of them. I use them for kite fishing sailfish, kingfish, etc... I think the 15-30 lb. is marginal for how I use them. Not much backbone. The guides are iffy at best, I've broken several in 2 years and just replace with Aftco guides at local tackle shop when needed. I like how light they are and for $50.00 I would definately buy them again. Mine are paired with Avet lx 6.0 reels if that matters.

Thats exactly how i was going to use them (for sailfishing kite). One of my concerns was backbone they seem a little light. I was going to pair with tld 15, tld 20 or avet lx. Have you broken the rods ? or the guides? And I also normally only use 15-25 test for sailfish rigs what are you using.
The guy also has some close out Williamson lures at a good price if anyone is interested in that. Im not to big on fake bait.

These rods are on sale right now direct from quantum for just over 18 bucks about 27 bucks after shipping, hope you have not bought them, you could save a few bucks.
They are solid rods, specially for the price, can't beat it.

Thanks for the heads up, ordered one in just because its so cheap. I have 3 of Quantam's sister company Fin Nor Powerlite rods I got on closeout from tackledirect.(same factory?) I've been very pleased with them, regardless of price.

Update, just received the Boca rod: its definately a 16lb class. Guides are Pacbays with no underwrapping. NO gimble on the butt which limits it usefulness with a conventional reel for me. Still, for $31 total it'll do - I've got a blue Avet SX that will match nicely with it.
