It looks like I'm going to have a half of a day to kill in Panama City, FL during a business trip this fall. I've got a 5 piece spinning rod that I usually throw in my checked bag. Is there anywhere in that area to fish for a few hours? I don't mind getting wet...

You can also fish the St Andrews State Park jetties, they also have a small pier gulf side and on the bay by the boat ramp.

I guess my question was a little dumb..... of course there are places to fish in a coastal city. Where would you guys fish in the fall if you had some time to kill? What would you be fishing for?

st park jetties or the city pier. from the st park jetties you will be able to catch bull reds, i like to fish it when the tide is going out and freeline a live or fresh dead bait out or throw a top water bait. sometimes you can see them in the swells. from the pier that time of the year you might be able to still catch kings from the pier and sailfish are caught everyonce in a while off the piers in the fall

I'm not sure my travel rod is going to be up to sailfish.... and most likely the kings either. Inshore might be a better place for me to stay. I could definitely go for some bull reds though.

Been hearing of people jigging for grouper right outside the jettys and catching in the afternoons.
