Hey Fellas. I have been fishing off of Osterville, MA (out of west bay inlet) and am looking for fluke. I have caught countless porgy and seabass but really wanna hook into some flattys. Any out there? Anyone have good locations that you are willing to give up. I am only going out for 1 day and would love to bang up a few.

If only it was that easy. lol. From where you are and not knowing what youre running for a boat, Id say the Lucas Shoal area is probably your safest/easiest bet. There are alot of decent spots in both Vineyard and Nantucket Sound and if youre feeling adventurous find some hard sandy bottom with moving water and have at it.

Like Andy said, 70-80 ft of water with hard sand and good current holds the most keeper fluke. I like a 3 way rig with a squid strip but others use pork rinds and jigs.

Yeah I am running a 26' regulator and I usually fish 30 or 40 foot for seabass. I was basically looking to see if places like the Eldridge shoal or anywhere near horseshoe shoals held fluke. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys

There are some GREAT fluke spots in Nantucket Sound right around the spots you mention. Whats even better is most of the time you will have your spot to yourself. Sandy bottom and some current are the key. Take a chance a poke around out there, you may be pleasantly surprised

So has anyone done well fluke fishing this year in Vineyard Sound or deeper? This is definitely not a year for Fluke over this way... Something is really off to say the least. If your nailing fish, let me know.

Yes, many 4 hrs days limiting out and some good size as well, that's a 26" cutting board.

Sure you can pull it off, but you can't tell me the past two weeks if your fishing this way, have been as good as its been in the years past? ? ?

You did not ask if it was good as it was years ago, you asked if anyone was nailing them, yes I would say we have been. Alot of sub-legal fish are being sent back as well as quite a few 16.5-17" fish I personally only keep the fat ones. I have not been in a couple weeks and probably wont be going again till next year.
Sounds like you know the answer to your question so I am not sure why you asked.....................

So i went out today and had 5 fluke (1 18" keeper) and had tons of seabass (only kept 2 big 20"ers). I fished colliers ledge (not much there but little seabass and porgies). I went out to say 30 feet of water along the 3 nautical mile line where it goes from 20' to 30' and had some luck but not much. Does anyone have any hot spots for fluke. I am sick of catching seabass and wanna put a mat outside my door. Any spots? ;?
