If there wasn't before, it's got a hole in it now.

You know no one would fess up to the "new" damage if it wasn't on video. Hope the owner was around to see that and take/get that video.

Great job by the crane operator for staying tight and not letting boom come over backwards, bad job by the operator for not doing his math on the pick! ;?

Pretty hard to do accurate math with so many variables. Fuel, gear, water in the bilge, etc.

If a larger piece of equipment was available I'm sure the operator would have preferred to use it. Restrictions due to barge/tug draft may have played into the equation as well.

We were there all weekend and didn't hear anything about it.
A couple weeks ago we watched a boat run over the rocks while we were sitting at canal beach. The boat bounced out of the water, and the guy turned around and almost did it again when he realized he was on the wrong side of the channel.. What an awful sound, I can only imagine hitting them at 20 knots.

When I was flying up to the cape this weekend I flew over it! I had no idea what I was looking at. There were two barges, a crane, a push boat and an escort tug. What looked odd was that there was what looked like a yacht tied up to the stern of one of the barges, sideways. Now I know what it was.

This happens about once every couple of years. Apparently this one only stuffed one shaft/strut/wheel/rudder up through the hull.

True, and that's why you assume the max plus X%.

Im a crane operator, that guy did a great job with that boat, considering there is no wy to calculate the weight of the boat half full of water, plus thats a late model crane they dont have the computers like the new ones, plus its a water rig on a barge, they are lucky to have a seat in them to sit on ,let alone a fancy computer, That guy did a great job, He definately kows that crane

...a little off topic, but is that video of the boat from this week...in 2012?

It's printed on the screen copyrighted 2009.

Regardless, great job by the crane operator.

The boat is on a barge in New Bedford harbor tied up on Fish Island right in front of Sea Fuels and the Ice House.

Pretty messed up. We saw this boat on Thursday just outside sea fuels. Sitting on its side on a barge. Running gear was all messed up.
