Thinking of moving the boat to St Pete. Anyone have any suggestions on Marinas that have outside racks? I wanna be closer to the Skyway and Anna Maria..Thanks

Check out O'neill's marina. Best on the water gas prices and they sell bait and such. I kept my boat at Mariners Cove and I liked it also. O'neills is closer to the Skyway. O'neills is about 15 minutes from the Skyway and Mariners cove is a little farther out.

Takes me about 20 min to get to the skyway, obviously depending on the seas. Took about 30 min to get back today with the seas today. I was waiting for her to hurl over the gunnel.

Between those two marinas is Loggerhead.

I keep my boat at Loggerhead. Loggerhead is a first class marina. Great pool, outstanding Captains lounge and great employees. Prices are very good.

In addition to those, there is Tierra Verde Hi and Dry-- it's close to Pass-a-grill, Skyway, fastest access to GOM. Downside is you have to deal with the Tierra verde drawbridge in your car.

I keep mine at Loggerhead. Very nice marina. Service used to suck but after complaining its gotten better. Boat is safe and secure inside/hi and dry. However I left it out In June (came back after 5 pm closing so left the boat in the water), and got my boat cleaned out of all fishing gear. 18 set-ups, entire tackle station, 8 plano tackle boxes-- over $10K stolen. My friend got rods stolen off his boat twice in June (same scenario-- left boat out overnight). That said there had not been any incidents in the 3 years prior to that. Apparently a rash of thefts from same crew.

Do they have outside racks or just inside?

Wet slips and indoor storage I think. Have only been there once by land.

That's where I started in the business 1964 at Maximo spinning wrenchs.
All the fame and glory that followed
$1.00 an hour which is about what I make now.

There's lots of choices south end of St. Pete just before the skyway.
Why the outside rack?
That might limit it some.

Thats a quarter an hour more than I made when I started working on boats in PA. Mercury outboards, 1967 and I did everything but put them back together. I probably do 1.50 an hour today working for myself.

Have you retained all your fingers or at least all your finger tips?
Missing fingers and/or finger tips was always the sign of a gen-u-ine Merc hugger.
Mk78'S had a real appitite for fingers or parts thereof.

I recommend Oneal's as well. I have lived on the Point my whole life and have been going there for years. Best gas prices around and they have a nice bait shop onsite as well.

Just keep a good coat of wax on your boat. Those birds love to shit!

Maximo Marina is off Boca Ciega Bay. They have outside racks. Been there for a year. When I did my search they had the best rates. They have fuel but no bait.
