I know you've all seen them, the big flat bottom boats with twin outboards. I know they were around during the oil spill, but what are they doing now, anyone know?

Oil spill research.... Crews are sent out everyday, weather permitting. They will probably continue spending money for another ten years.

I had also heard that due to a recent discovery of a large oil patty at one of the islands, they had ramped up some clean up crews. I believe these are coming out of D,iberville/Biloxi. I think the Pascagoula staging area has really scaled down.

They have cut-back a lot. The boats mostly run from Point Cadet. They still have the same arear to cover which allows the boat crews to work full-time, instead of running once or twice a week.

they just ramped back up.... nesting season is over so they put more people back on the islands. they also are sending divers out to look and clean the bottom underwater
