Just wanted to check in with the crowd fishing offshore in Broward County.
I just last month started trolling for Dolphin again after after 10 years. I always go out of port everglades. I remember going out years ago and always had a succesful trip with 10 plus in the cooler.
Two trips this month and not even a hit??? What is going on out there? ;?
I have been 5 to 15 off in the weedline and nothing. Also was in Marathon and same story, after being 20 off?
Are they running thin, did they ever get here this year?
Looking to here what your results are.
Thanks:thumbsup:

Seemed like they came through early this year. Also try live bait around the weed patches between 750 and 1000'. I'm headed out sat morning and really thinking about running 25 mi. out.
I found them and continue to find them, like normal.
Gotta put in work.

I haven't seen them in any numbers that were over 19". I know lots of people that ask the same question you asked, including me. We've been skunked a quite a few times the past few months, when we were looking for dolphin
200' to 20 miles............sometimes they're just not around (me anyway). I remember following 3 frigate birds that were circling low, for over an hour, and no bites.
I jus don't know

Slow this year here as well, only small fish caught, but I have not fished nearly as much this year as the last few.... I need to get out more...find new people to fish with ..may start live baiting again

The larger fish were generally caught early in the season......
The weed lines are holding fish, mostly peanuts though and need to work frigates or rips over weed lines for larger fish....
Also big single patches tend to be better then long long weed lines for larger fish....
Tons of smaller fish caught this last week in Marathon, with only a few over 10lb in KCB the entire week....

I went 0-0 last weekend, I trolled in about 550'-750'. I saw a lot of small bait in the weeds but nothing larger. The water was incredibly clear, so I feel that might have had something to do with it. I ended up on the reef North of the inlet and pulled in a handful of yellowtail so the day was not a total waste....
I think I may go bug hunting this weekend. It looks like its going to be pretty flat offshore. If I had a bigger boat I would make a Bimini run.

Honestly, I dont bother fishing out here anymore. I used to fish just about once a week. Fuel fuel and more fuel. Now I save my time and money for a once a month (or so) trip to the Bahamas. Fishing/spearfishing is much better.

I've heard Broward refered to as "the Pipe" - the fish are here only as they move north or south. Spring and fall can be good east of PE, otherwise use your trailer to launch well to the north or south.

Any time!!! Im always looking for a good guys to fish with. Ill PM your for the next trip. The more guys the cheaper it gets and I'll take up to 6. My last trip to Bimini was just for the day. There were 5 of us and we spent $110 a piece for the trip. Not bad if you ask me. That $110 included fuel/oil, food/drinks, cruising permit, and we purchased a ton of cleaned conch. We left the dock at 15th Street at 7am and we had the boat backed into my yard by 8pm loaded with fish. It was a spearfishing trip. Before that we killed the yellowfin tuna and we spent about the same per person. I love doing the quick one day trips. I fill out all my paperwork the night before at my house so checking in literally takes me 15 minutes on a week day. We dont even dock. My crew just drops me off at the dock, I run in and do paper work while they idle around near the gov. dock. Very simple and quick.

One day I'll make the run in my boat but it's a little on the small side with a single o/b :(

Better rush out there in the morning. Today the dolphin were solid in 600-1100' from Miami all the way up to Jupiter. We fished out of PB and caught 40+ mostly 3-8 lbs with a few 10 lb fish. Never found debris, just got covered up and they stayed with us for 3 hours. When they finally got tired of being hooked and released (we kept 11-12) we started trolling again, 20 minutes later got covered up again and released all 4, then headed in by 12:30. Best I've seen it here in a while.
I talked to several other boats, all did well. Miami has had them for a couple days now.

went out saturday and headed straight out to about 1000ft+ and just trolled around. Ended up having a triple header from 10-15lbs. Then found a couple schools anywhere from 10-25bs. Saw some people keeping tiny maybe legal ones. Their out there, just got to find the luck
