I've tried now twice to dye some clear vinyl tubing with very little success . The first ime i took some 7/16 tubing and put it in a pot with one bottle of RIT scarlet dye , some vinegar and salt and heated it for hours on end and had very poor results . The second attempt a friend of mine gave me a recipe that i followed to a t . One bottle of rit dye , 22 cupps of water and 1/4 cup of vinegar and heat to 140 degrees and let it sit on that steady heat for about 3 hours . After the 3 hours ichecked the tubing and you could hardly tell it was in a dye at all . I'm starting to think it's the tubing that I bought from Home Depot is the problem , it seems to resist the dye . I've tried boiling , lightly heating and I also tried using straight dye . Some of my tubes have gotten a little color but nothing like they should . Any help will be greatly appreciated .

If it's clear vinyl tubing, I doubt you're going to have any luck dying it. The plasticizers, which turns rigid pvc into flexible/soft will never allow it as they start migrating out from day one.
