I bought a boat to flip. I bought it for a good price and am cleaning, replacing and fixing the little problems with the boat to get it ready to list. The previouse owner took the electronics off the boat and so it needs new electronics.
My problem is the electronics that I would put on this boat for myself may not be what someone else wants. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to electronics just like motors and anything else on a boat. Most people want to build it the way they want it.
My question is should I list the boat with the option for the buyer, that I will install anything they want up to a certain value or just put what I want on it and sell it like that.

Depends on what boat it is. If it is a small, not very expensive boat a new owner is probably fine with whatever electronics it has installed. Different story when it is a big$$$ boat.

I have bought a lot of boats to flip and always bought used electronics to install if needed.

If it's a midrange boat to about 30', a Garmin 4208 chartplotter w/sounder should appeal to the majority of buyers.
On the other hand, a blank canvas is a good way to go also. Let them pick their own, and let the selling price reflect that.

This is what I was thinking. The boat is a Century 2201 Bay. I thought about the Garmin 740S combo unit. They are pretty decent. I have the Raymarine E7D and would put that on again, but who ever buys this boat may not be a fan of either Garmin or Raymarine.
The VHF antenna is an el-cheapo so I'm going to put a Digital 4 footer on the Tee Top and replace the VHF with an Icom. Can't see anyone not liking that.

The reality is that no mater what you put on, if it's new, you will not get back the investment. On a boat that size, I would put a radio only and the buyer can decide what they need or want.

I would just put a blank plate over the old plotter hole. Install the Icom with antena and go market the hell outa it.
nevermind...

I run this Garmin and thru-hull sensor. IMHO, an installed 740s, with a B60 Airmar installed in a nice and clean fashion would be a pretty good selling point. I just don't see how you could make money on that piece of the pie. Best of luck with your project, sir!
