Hey Jim/BOE,

I have a pair of Garmin 3210's on my 44 Defever. They were purchased in 2007. The maps are not very good and pretty dated. Additionally when we recently went to the Bahamas, they were pretty much worthless.

Is there any way to upgrade the map information (I am not talking marinas, etc).

Garmin has this on their website:

HUS040R - US East g2

Is this what I need? They really don't tell you what you get with this chip. If its marina/tide/etc, info, that's not what I want. I need better depth/map info.

Thanks!

Garmin no longer makes maps on a "Bluechart Data Card" like you need. All they offer now is SD. So there is nothing new I have to offer you. The chart you mentioned will certainly cover you on the east coast, but you'll need to find one, maybe ebay.

Thanks Jim, but what is SD?

i noticed my maps were way off when i went to the bahamas. so i contacted garmin and they sent me a software update and then a map update, which was the Bluechip data card. they will send both to you in data cards which you insert on the left side of the unit. total cost was abut $150, with about $50 back when i returned the data card with the software update.

i've gone twice since the update and the maps are spot on.
