I'm inquiring as to members or members who know someone who is experiencing the same problems with Lowrance radar. My plotter is a lcx111c. I purchased a LRA2000 to use with it. It was supplied with a RIM100 which failed almost immediately. It is only 5 years old and has been actually used only 3 or 4 times in those 5 years to navigate in fog off Cape Cod during the 2 months I spend there each summer. I was sent a RIM200 as a fix which worked although not without issues. It has failed as well. Worked for only 4 years. Before I tossed the RIM100 I cut the cover off the box. The printed circuit board had lettering "revision 1". So it's clear their design had poblems from the begining, and the failure of the 200 ,and the fact that they won't make any replacements, and will not support the units makes me think the designs had problems that they never were able or wiling to fix.
I'm wondering if there are enough people with this problem that Lowrance should be approached as a class action to refund or replace radar units or money. The combination of this equipment is near the $5000. mark and I find it unreasonable that this equipment is not supported after only 5 years for repair and replacement parts.
Thanks
