So I bought the YDS because I currently have engine issues noted in another post "hard to start.."

and the system indicated that it recently had issues:

29 Intake press sensor
23 Intake temp sensor
37 Intake air passage

I went and tested the intake temp sensor and it doesn't seem to be within specs, so I just went ahead and ordered a new one.

While putting things back together, I decided to tug on the hose on the cowl that connects the outside air intake to the front of the cowling. It came out and I took a peek in there and it was clogged, my air tool couldn't unclog it. So I took everything apart, here is what I found.

Mud Divers! A ton of mud piles in both areas. I was always wondering why mud would be running down my cowl after I go boating. The hoses were clogged, the passages were clogged, it was a big mess, but it's all cleaned now.

So I wonder if this would cause condition "23". I don't fully understand how the intake system works on the cowling, it looks like air is drawn through the front of the cowling closest to the intake/silencer (makes sense) because it's cooler and as well as through the back of the motor to help air cool the motor, though this air is hotter. Or.. is the back opening an outlet of air through the venturi effect? And the two small hoses...drawing a little warm air? LOL I'd love to really find out how this air intake system works!

I'm almost led to believe that this could be one of the reasons why it's so hard to start and dies at idle after the engine has been ran.
