Related to another questions/post (Tundra); does your wife drive the pick-up on a regular basis and you don't qualify as a redneck?

Not sure if I'm a redneck or not, but there is a very good reason why my wife has her own car  She does not drive my car or truck:nono:

From time to time my wife will part with her BMW X5 and take my Ram 2500 Diesel.
She can also handle my Contender 30T on the trailer towing down I-95 as well as I can  Great co-pilot.
I always let her drive when we head into NYC (Manhatten). She's fearless and has a way of dealing with the ruthless cab drivers.:o - Can come awfully close to trading paint though:o!

My wife will drive the truck, but not tow..
In NYC, I drive so she has both hands free to "signal" the cabbies and to provide a beat down if needed.

My fiance will occasionally get out of her Cruze and hop into my Dmax but she doesn't really like it. She does love my old mans Denali and my mothers Lexus RX450H. The diesel is a little big for parking lots to her. My neighbor drives a mustang and his wife drives a F-150 4X4 ecoboost with the max tow package. I would love it if she had a bigger vehicle though, for safety reasons. If we are in the car together, I am driving.

Once or twice a year. Helping somebody move something or going plant shopping. I don't drive it if I don't need to. Long wheelbase just makes things more difficult around town.

Reason I ask, we/I are considering a Tundra Crewmax Limited to replace our aging Lexus GX470. I like it not only because it is damn near as nice as the Sequoia inside, the size difference isn't huge between the two and because it can tow more than Sequoia. She would probably end up driving the truck most of the time, but I am not sure she is completely sold on the idea just yet.
We have a 2011 F-150 Lariat 4x4 with Eco-boost and a 2010 Toyota 4Runner Limited. The wife loves to drive her 4Runner but loves to ride in my F-150. So when we go out together she says "Can we take your truck? Pretty Please?";?

Mine would offer to but didnt like doing it at all. I sold the truck, leased a Lexus and with the monthly fuel savings I pay for my boat slip which I didnt have before. Now we both drive each others cars and i get to have a boat slip. :) That GX470 will last forever if taken care of by the way...

X2, my bride can tow the boat with our Ram 2500 Diesel. Takes the boat from the dock to the house and returns it to the trailer when the week or day is done. Really get a lot of looks and dropped jaws when she threads between the ICW pillings and boats in a swift current to center the trailer. All we do is back it in and pull it out. Now if she would only clean fish and clean the boat:roll:)

My big ass diesel 4x4 PU. She liked my sons F150 king ranch. So I took her out to look at nice tundras. She loves driving it now. So Thats what I have. I did not get the crew cab tho. Its a 4x4 extended cab with the 6 ft bed. That is what I wanted and she likes it. It turns and moves my boat backing up much easier. I also have the towing mirrors on it. The 5.7 feels awful powerful so far. Last night I stopped at 2 beers and my wife did not. Next time she will have 2 glasses of wine and drive home. Its gets old being the designated driver all the time. I always thought her nissan rogue brought out too much of my feminine side?:o

There is no doubt the engine will last awhile, it's everything else I am concerned about. It's so damn expesive to repair when something wears out or breaks.
I've already put a grand into it over the last 30 days. Next year I need to replace the timing belt/water pump - another $1500, my front rotors are warped (again) so they will need to be replaced (again). Since I just replaced the front shocks I am sure the rears will follow soon - each shock costs $400 a piece, not including labor :o There are known exhaust/emissions issues in higher mileage GX's that if you are one of the lucky ones to get hit by them will cost thousands. The long and the short of it is, I like the smell of a new car.

on my old trailer. I now have a 12K lb torsion axle trailer under the boat. Oh all the T top pipes are carbon fiber along with the top its self. Yes the boat is an old 233 formula that took on a mind of its own.
the 12 valve cummins was so ld school. grind a little metal on the fuel plate and instant 100 hp gain. the tundra is so different but so nice to drive. I think its a sign of my old age. No more diesel for me. my choice.

I like the carbon fiber rod rack idea, perhaps one for the front of whatever truck I get will be in order! Can you wrap stuff in carbon fiber, say a rear diffusor off of a bumper?

to be printed on any thing. You displace it in a liquid bath. when removed it is perfectly covered in what ever finish you want. I think someone on THT was doing it also. Then clear coat it.

I took my fishing team stickers off the truck because one day a rather large redneck caught me at a light and explained that he did not appreciate me racing him the other day the only problem was it was my wife;? So I asked her about it and she said yea I Smoked him:thumbsup: . She can tow also but would rather back the boat of and on the trailer rather back down the ramp but I am working on it.;cool;

If I am driving I just start slapping my face and yawning and before long she is demanding that I pull over and let her drive lol. Good thing she doesnt know that I do the yawn and slap thing just so she will think its her idea to take over lol. I get e nice nap:sleeping: on the way to the dock and back home

No wife at the moment, but since I bought a commuter car my seventy seven year old mom drives my Avalanche I think more than I do. And my "girly girl" sister has a crew 4x4 as her daily driver. Both can tow and back a trailer as well as any guy I know.
A friend of mine had one of those F-650 monster pickups. His wife drove it all the time. Got a lot of laughs as this 5'2" chick literally climbed down from the the drivers seat.

I guess I'm lucky. After 22 yrs of marriage and both of our love for boating, fishing, etc, my wife has learned to back the truck down the ramp like a pro. I let her out at the dock, she goes and gets the truck, and backs it down the ramp. I drive it on the ramp, wind the winch a couple of times to snug it up and we are gone in about 2 minutes. Funny to see all the ramp "escapades". Just be patient in the beginning, practice when no one else is around, and when the time comes, it's easy.

GF was my best friends sister in HS.. You know the deal back then. Never mess with your best friends sister. But we ain't in HS anymore either. Came with her own pickup truck. American Coach Custom to. Hood scoop, exhaust out the side,, insides are nice.
She had 4 Brothers.. Cleans fluke and catfish, loves fishing, racing, dirt, (flowers) thinks the Z mower is the coolest toy, cuts the grass, and is a pharmacists. 102 pounds soaking wet and ain't nothing no better than a cookout and a cold beer..
She hooked a U-haul to her truck with no problem and as far as I know didn't kill anyone on the 230 mile trip from Tabor City NC to the point but have not ask her to hook to boats or race trailer and try that yet. No point in it anywhere when i'm there. Back the boat down, slide it off the trailer still moving, she wraps the rope on a poll, offload in less they 30 seconds. reload less then 4 minuets. She's a team player for sure.
We don't call it rednecks. That's a tad disrespectful down here in the south... Just a show-nuff good woman..

Its a ZX3 from American Coach. Standard height but has the complete custom package from front to rear. High rise hood and exhaust come out those chrome rings on the sides at the back and their aftermarket flare kit. Makes it look lowered. Leather everything on the inside. .

For many years my wife's grocery getter, kid hauler was a crew cab 3500 longbed 4x4, 454, with a 6 inch lift. She never had any problems in the car pool line. Everyone knew her as the little lady in the big truck. She is 5 1 and 100 lbs. She would even hook up a 20 ft cargo trailer, and drag it to the motocross track, for weekday practices with the kids. After getting stuck with her suburban, I went out and bought a 300z as a 3rd car.
