I spent many weekends there in the pre alcohol ban days. Lots of fun. Boobies every where.

I haven't been there in 25 years. Damn...used to go every summer as a kid.

Where do you guys usually launch and how long of a run is it from the ramp? I know exactly where it is, but I have never gone by boat.

It's been a couple of years, but we used to launch from the ramp at Ed Stone Park (Crow's Bluff)...right where 44 crosses the river.
There were still a couple of no-wake zones...one around Crows Bluff, another around Astor, and another where you enter Lake George. I don't recall it being much more than an hour from there to Silver Glen.
It was a nice park...plenty of parking and 6-8 lanes.

Been there plenty. As soon as the boat is back on the water, we will be there again. I usualy launch at Astor. Is there a better launch?

I've always put in at Astor as well.

I usually launch at
Ed Stone Park
2990 W. S.R.44

It's about a 30 mile ride up the river to Silver Glen. I set up a route on my Chartplotter beacuse there are several side tributaries and lakes so a little knowledge is good
There are also several good restaurants along the river with generous drinks and good reasonably priced meals

Good to know. thank you. Ill be trying that next time we go out there. I am a lot closer to having the boat on the water now.

Lake George sure is big.

With a 30 mile run from Ed Stone on 44 west of Deland, it probably makes sense to drive up to Astor and launch there. 30 miles on the river is a decent run for a day trip.

Yeah, I've gone from Lake Monroe to Lake George and back in a day, and with all the no wake zones it's a trip. There's one no wake around blue springs that's 45 min to get through.
BTW, what is this thread doing in Boat Shows and Photos?

Who knows, but it is good hiding place for us locals.
We have made the run from the ramp near I-4 to Blue Springs many times. We have also cut through at Marker 80 and did the loop around Hontoon Island which is a great little "secret".
Once it cools down just a little I will have to make the run from the Ed Stone ramp up to Silver Glen. I've used that ramp before but never ran very far north.

Dang, just got back from overseas and see my pics didn’t post—good new is that Shore’s pics were better than my pics anyway (-:
BTW: I put in at Welaka; great ramp and not much congestion.

I have not been back in a few years. Did they ban booze in the springs now?
Booze ban in effect at Silver Glen, but not at Salt Springs. Lots of people still drink in the Glen, just be very inconspicuous about it and pour everything into regular cups, preferably that you can't see through.
Holiday weekends the cops are really in numbers there so be extra careful.
