I have been invited to a seminar in New York in September, staying at the W on Lexington for a long weekend. I'm looking for some high end dining suggestions, we enjoyed Vong and the River Cafe last time but it has been a number of years. Nightlife suggestions also needed- had some of the best, crazy all nighters there when I was younger.

For dinner Mr.Chow, DelMonicos, Blue Smoke, for night life you have Tenjune not sure you can get in there, Cielo, and the lounge ontop of the gansevoort hotel all 3 are within walks distance to each other in the Meatpacking District. Also more attainable night spots are 40/40 club On W25st, Culture Club on w39st depends what kind of music your into. For a really nice view and atmosphere it's a little bit of a drive it's on Dykman st way up town it's called LaMarina beautiful view of the Hudson

There are all sorts of choices just over the Brooklyn Bridge. Heck, the other night, we walked over it from the seaport district in lower Manhattan to DUMBO. It's only a 15 minute walk and a beautiful city view on a nice night.

We ate at AL Mar on Front Street the other night and the food was fabulous!

Or you could try something on restaurant row in Brooklyn Heights

If you want to stay in Manhattan, then how about Peter Luger Steakhouse? It's the best steak in town:

Check out Maria, Club A Steakhouse, Fresco by Scotto. For something quick shakeshack for a hamburger, Patsys for pizza, Serendipty for icecream, if you want breakfast hands down Normas at the le parker meridian.

I have a place in New York. I noticed your from Key West. Im planning a fishing trip there with some friends. I was going to start a thread on what guide to use and some good places to eat.

... I'm looking for some high end dining suggestions,...

The best Khlav Kalash I've ever had was in NY. Try down around Church and Barklay Streets. The guy moves his spot around from time to time so...

There's a steak house close to times square, Ruth's Chris I believe. They bring the steak out sizzlling in butter on a granite slab. It was Good!

High End Dining - Look up Per Se, Daniel, Le Bernadin and then Masa (for sushi). There also Jean Georges but that place sucks.

Still very high end but not quite elite - Picholine, Del Friscos Double Eagle Steak House Midtown, Nobu Downtown (but that's overpriced for what you get), Megu downtown is always good and cool atmosphere, Gotham Bar & Grill or Gramercy Tavern. But this list can be massive as there are many cool places at this level.

Good Times (Lounge and Good Food & Unique Place) - Beauty & Essex is a great place with a cool bar scene, unique entrance and interior, etc.

Clubbing type Dance place Hudson Hotel, or Bubble Lounge.

Rooftop bars (Which you should go to) - Rare, Dream Hotel and/or Hudson Terrace, Plunge

Random Area with a ton of bars - Go up and down 2nd Avenue in the low 50's. The place is packed with bars/pubs.

Try OpenTable to book them or maybe Amex Platinum Concierge to make res'v. Might be helpful.

Good luck and enjoy.

The Grocery, in Brooklyn, is well worth the trip.

Gyro II - East side of 7th ave around 34th street (across street from Madison Square Garden). Their Gyro is the best fast food in the city. I may have to wander down there for lunch today with that thought now in my mind.

Wow! Thanks for th elink - I grew up in that neighborhood (Inwood). We left in the early 1980's because the neighborhood deteriorated. I Would give you some advice, but I haven't been back to NYC for about 15 years! Great place though. I certainly miss it!
