it was about 4-6-ft long and caught off of bridge on Acapesket around 7:30 pm, Saturday pm

probably a smooth dogfish , did it look

While I can't see the picture, if it wasn't a dogfish (above) then it may have been a Brown Shark. Fairly common on the south side...

At the size you state and where it was caught it was likely a Sandbar Shark also known as the "Thickskin shark" It is also commonly known as a "Brown Shark". Like Mike said Fairly common on the south side..

They are tasty however you need to break the law to find out now. Common bycatch with the fluke draggers/gillnetters which is why they are closed.

From what Ive heard, the bite at East Beach on the Vineyard has been outstanding this season.
