We headed north out of Oregon Inlet Saturday morning dodging a few thunderstorms. Made it up to the 000s. The day was a little slow on the White Marlin bite. Ended up having two small sails in the spread that wouldnt eat, One Blue Marlin that jumped off and one White Marlin release. Pretty day on the water and was happy with the release.

Here are a few video screen shots.

Great report. A picture is worth a thousand words. Was a beautiful day wasn't it. We were at the point.

I hear people talking about the 000 but I don't know where it is other than to the north. Can you tell me where this is and how to find it on a chart?

Thanks - Don

Don, try this site out.

http://www.terpsstpro.com/php/index.php

Click on the "NC" SST region and then click on the Loran "Show" button which will show the loran lines. The 41000 line is referred to as the triple zero's. The intersection of your loran line and your depth is a common way to reference location by the fleet.

OK. I looked at the 41000 line. Looks like it is a 60 mile run out of OI. How far offshore of the drop is most of the white fishing done?

thanks

Its not that far its about 40miles from the inlet. We fish between 30-60 fathoms most of the time. Find bait and you will find fish 905 of the time. There is a mileage checker at the top of the page that Josh posted. Mark

Thanks. Is the dredges a must to fish for whites? A buddy told us to pull dredges and run dink baits close behind the boat. He likes to raise the fish to the back of the boat and watch when the white eats. Does this sound typical?

Pretty much on the money. Almost all our fish are bait and switch off the dredge and teasers. You can see in the photos that we run a pretty tight spread. You really have to make them want to eat the bait or they will stay tight on the teasers or fade off. You have to feed the bait to them.

Yes, I got some nice boatside footage I'll get to you. That fish had a lot of pretty color when I had him billed, he was lit up.
