Hello all. Wondering if there is any insight on the 2 boats I am leaning towards purchasing. Sea Hunt 207 escape. Or Hurricane 211 Sundeck OB. I personally like a CC but with 3 little kids and wife I need something more spacious. I do not fish. Only using for cruising on the bay and rivers along bay. Cambridge st mikes etc. the hurricane has more room but will the modified vee hold up on the bay? I like this layout better. But the most important feature I want is to have the best and safest ride possible when the bay gets a bit rough. I do not know enough about hull designs.

Last year I was looking at same type of boats,Hurricane sundeck 2200 and 2400 and Sea Hunt escape 2200. Ended up with a Sea Hunt Ultra 232. Take a look its a great boat for cruising, tubing, crabbing, fishing. . Rides better than the Hurricane. I never sea trialed a Sea Hunt escape. The Ultra with bow backrest and mezzanine seats fits alot of people.

Also looking at the Scout Dorado 202. I am assuming a walk around could be useful as well.

As I have a trawler based in Cambridge I pretty much know the water that you are boating on If you stay in the choptank either will work on nice days. With +15mph winds the tank will live up to its name and the deck boat should stay in port. If you are going to stray into the Bay the Hurricane could be a real problem. I can tell you that as a delivery capt piloting very large yachts up and down the bay as well as offshore I have had my hands full with +100 ft boats on the Bay when the wind picks up and as you know that can happen in 5 minutes or less. So if you stay in the river on nice days only either will work but if you might get caught in foul weather the cc will b much safer. ;)

Thanks for the info. I think I have narrowed my picks down to a Sea Hunt Escape 207 or a Sea Hunt Victory 225. If anyone has any experience with these please reply. Any info would help!

As for layout and features only you can decide. All things being equaly go for the bigger (longer) boat.

Funny, I'm in Florida now and a friend let me use his 20' pontoon which is close to a deck boat. We had a great time on it but I wouldn't go out into the gulf if there was a chance the winds would pick up.
Personally Victory/walk around cuddy ends up just being a big storage locker. I would look at the 22'DC and save your$elf the two footies in a year or two.

Did you look at any other DC's in the Sea Hunt price range?
My only reason to think of a WA is a place for the kids to cool down or warm up. 3 kids will all be around 5 to 7 years old. May be a way for me to squeeze another couple hours on the water. But the WA is at least another 5 grand. And that is with the 150hp.

The two are different animals, but the topside of the Hurricane looks like it would be much more comfortable for a family - there are many more square feet to choose from. I think any small boat is going to ride hard in crappy weather, so by the topside that works and go out on great days!
Hey, I am no expert, on your area, but the Hurricane deckboat is much bigger than that Sea Hunt.

Anything over a 2' chop and the Hurricane will beat the snot out of you (I had a 23'er). It was a great family boat, but it really limited our use to nicer days due to the 12 degree deadrise.
If you want something that cuts through the chop, you may want to consider a catamara or a deeper V dual console with some weight to it.
