This fish was caught on topwater 85 miles off the coast of Louisiana. The entire fish was really dark when it was landed. It obviously some kind of jack fish, but I have never seen one before. The fish probably weighed over 20lbs and for perspective the picture was taken with it laying in a 250 qt YETI.

So, lemme have it. What the hell is this?

Jack crevalle

Absolutely not a Jack Crevalle. The snout of this fish was more like a Trevally or a Grunt. But, none of the other features are the same. Giant Trevally read to be more silver in color. THis fish was all dark like the snout.

Interesting, we just caught a few of these in the Abacos. Not on topwater but bottom fishing in 120ft. I'll try to get a picture posted. So is it a black jack?

Black Jack, can tell by the markings on his middle section toward the tail. Looks like he has had stitches.

This one was caught at Boxer so they must be staying in that area. We couldn't do anything on topwater for them and the horse eye jacks eating everything.
