I am thinking of making the trip from Wareham Harbor to Cuttyhunk. Assuming I travel at about 20 knots, how long will it take?

Also, any tips on cuttyhunk? What to do there, is a day trip enough, etc.

Thanks!

B Bay can get sketchy, time the trip so you don't have a clashing SW wind and outgoing tide. Otherwise enjoy.

At 20 knots, probably 1.5 - 1.75 hours from Wings Neck. Though there is often a chop in BB, there are flat days/mornings as well (like today).

It's a great day trip - walk the island, check-out the view from the top or the bunker you see as you look out towards Sows & Pigs. Others can chime-in on beach recommendations (if that's your thing), but West Beach on Naushon is acessible (almost) on the way).

If fishing is on your agenda, there are lots of choices.

Good luck.

I was thinking about heading out early sat, around 8 - 9 to beat the chop over there, then returning around 6, or early sunday. I have heard that there is either nothing to do there or that it is a great place to go!

There is not a lot to do there but that is part of its charm. It is a dry Island so byob, also there is a small grocery store with great steaks. There's a gift store, an ice cream place on the pier , Raw Bar comes along in the late afternoon. We like to sit on the beach alongside the channel and watch the boats come and go. Mind the red channel markers and dont try and gut between Penikese and the red bouys or you'll have troubles otherwise easy entry

btw, where do you get your weather for the bay? i usually check weather.com and NOAA, but find the most accurate way is to take the wind speeds and then determine the sea conditions on my own.

based on your original question, and the forecast - you should reconsider your plans for this weekend.

'based on your original question' assumes you have limited boating experience...but you do seem to have a good handle on the mystery of BB forecasts!
