A 31-year-old Miami man died Sunday evening in a Jet Ski crash off Keewaydin Island, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said.
Carlos Ignacio Aragon was pronounced dead en route to NCH Downtown Naples Hospital after the collision, which was reported at about 6:30 p.m., FWC officials said. Aragon and Jorge Mendez, 52, of Miami, were riding separate Jet Skis when they crashed into each other. Mendez wasn’t hurt in the collision.
A cause remains under investigation, and a precise location of the collision wasn’t immediately available. It’s unknown whether alcohol played a factor in the crash, FWC Officer Jorge Pino said.
Investigators said Aragon’s family might be living in Cuba.
