I lost reverse on my starboard engine Saturday. I found the cause to be the cable snapped. The part number on the cable is worn away so I don't know how long it should be. Anyone know how to determine cable length? I heard to measure a straight line from the control box to the center of the outboard then add four feet but I think that is for a side mount. My control box is mounted on the console. Second problem is the boat is an hour away but if I have to make the run to take some measurements so be it. Would like to get the cable for Saturday to salvage one fishing day out of the weekend weather permitting.

Thanks!!

call GW they would know.

Tried that but they said they come pre-rigged with Yamaha and not Mercury. I asked for the length of the Yamaha cables to get an idea but haven't heard back yet.

BTW thanks for the reply.

One would think it would be the same length to a merc or yammi. I'd pester them till u get an answer or call a dealer and have them call gw.

You can't go anywhere with one busted anyway, so just pull one of the cables out and measure. You still have the other cable to chase the new ones in with. No sense replacing just one cable- might as well do them all.
