Just picked up my new boat with a continental trailer that has the titan electric brake system on it. I have a Prodigy 3 controller in my nissan titan. Went to take the boat out for the first time yesterday and when backing down the ramp the brakes were locking up. From what Ive been told the controller should have taken care of the back issue. Am I missing any thing here? Im new to the whole braking system

Your brakes were locking up when backing downhill? Is it possible you have the gain set to high on your controller? Also when say electric brakes are you referring to electric over hydraulic? Are you certain you do not have surge brakes, and the plug on the trailer is simply for the lights?

Surge brakes shouldn't apply backing down a ramp. free backing or disc. There shouldn't be any pressure on surge actuator

You need to hold one of the buttons down on your Prodigy 3 , to de activate the brakes in reverse.
Im getting to old and lazy to check which button , so check in your Tekonsha manual.

Thanks I did and found out which buttons. Only reason why i asked was because on normal streets it reversed perfectly fine. So thought I had an issue

You probably were not riding the brake on flat streets in reverse, but when backing down you probably were on the brakes pretty good going down the ramp.
