gm3car1 - Unfortunately, I have decided to be truly happy I am going to need two boats. My passion is chasing tarpon on the fly. Where I live that means covering a lot of ground by poling and trolling all day and making long open water runs. So I am looking to find a used Egret 167 or Maverick Master Angler 17. However, I wouldn’t turn my nose up the right technical poling skiff. With this trade I will have my tarpon skiff and in 5yrs or so (as soon as I can financially do it) buy a 23 or 26 Andros for the family boat.

What about this boat doesn't fit what your looking for, too slow with the 60? I would guess good shallow water performance and decent running in a chop, just maybe too slow. Great looking boat and nice price.

Ryan H - The speed is a little part but not the reason I am selling. If speed was the only reason I would keep the boat and repower in a couple more years. The biggest reason is poling. I have issues staying on fish (without trolling motor help) when the wind kicks up more than 15mph or so the bow catches the wind. I am thinking of guiding in a couple years and have to have something that I can work a school of spooking poon and feed a fly to them when the wind is blowing hard without the trolling motor help.....Thanks for compliment and you are correct it does have good shallow water ability and handles the chop great.

Oorah - with 1 person and gear i can get 30 - 31mph WOT. 2 or 3 people i run 25-28mph @ 5000 - 5500 rpm in just about any conditions. 4 people 22-25. If your a speed demon or fish 4 people most of the time this probally is not the boat for you.
Fuel consumption - I dont have a flow meter so i kept track over about 30 hrs of use and it averaged 2.1gph

Thanks Ryan. Rember the gph I calculated was an average of ALL use for aprrox 30 hrs so it includes idiling, but 2.1gph is still great economy even with idiling factored in.

That is impressive for an 18' boat. 5' gulf seas can rock most boats pretty hard tuning it into a wet ride.

ebg18t - I was very impressed with how the boat handle it! I would feel very safe any seas 6' or less.
