Just got a new Shimano BaitRunner 8000D. Will use mainly for Striped Bass and live lining. Was planning to spool it with Braid (probably in 20#) anybody have any reel (pun intended) world numbers on how much I can get on there and weather it is best to go all braid or put a mono backer? Thanks.

295yd of 40lb braid, 290yd of 50lb braid, and 180yds of 65lb braid.

The reel is built to handle braid. I went with straight 50lb power pro on mine and got close to 300yds. 20lb braid will handle the striped bass, but the point of braid is the small diameter allows for more strength and more line capacity at the same time. Personally you are wasting your money and time with 20lb braid. Just my two cents.

Do you use a top shot then? Maybe Mono or Flourocarbon?

Flouro leader length depends on what I am fishing for. Usually about 3-6ft tops.
