In the upper part of this pic you can see the underside of my aluminum outboard bracket. It has a brass fitting and plug similar to what's on the bottom of the boat. The metal around the fitting is corroded and looks weak.

What is the proper way to repair this? Thanks in advance.

First off the plug should be plastic and fit into a welded aluminum plug housing. Somebody put the wrong plug in it. A copper alloy bronze or brass plug would cause the hell you see above. I would not even use a stainless plug. Plastic only.

Cut out the bad plate and weld in new plate with a new boss. Make sure the bracket has the correct anodes and bonding according to the builder.
