I have been reading about all the responses to the Shark Wranglers coming to tag Great Whites off Chatham. Seeing as there is no petition to affirm them coming lets do a poll to gauge the THT responses.

Hmmm.. surprised by the lack of responses to this post....

Would there be any harm in allowing them to work on Cape Cod??

(I find the "wranglers" to be somewhat corny) am I alone in this??

I don't really care for the politics behind them coming or not but I'm still stuck on the big time chumming so close to shore. To any of you shark/tuna fisherman: Is this a regular practice in that area?

No need for these trustafarian dilletantes (thx BG for that term!) to come up here, IMO. Their methods will do no good and cause harm...

Putting aside the like or dislike of them, what exactly is the harm they could do?
Potential accidental killing of a Great White?
Chumming causing more sharks to the neighbor hood?
Just trying to have a common sense discussion.
For the record, I really do not have a problem with them coming to town.

I hear ya. The work Billy is doing is far more efficient and doesn't disrupt the behavior patterns of the animals. I'm not buying into the "need" for the bloodwork stuff they're trying to sell as research. As far as I know, the tag they are surgically implanting aren't yielding any more info than the harpoon-deployed tags either...

I'm sure they will set up off Monomoy or South Beach which is ten miles from a public beach. Besides, there's been an A-hole convention going on off Chatham for two weeks. It's no surprise that these guys were invited. ;?
