I need to take the whole family for a little local vacation. Typically I take the offshore boat to the Keys but since I finished the Nautique I thought I should try a local lake instead this time.
We are two adults, three kids and a 65# dog that swims. Will likely wind up with extra kids, we always do some how LOL.

I want a house on the beach with a dock and a clean sandy bottom, no canals. I also want good water for boarding. I have only been to Placid and it was OK, just OK. How is June? It appears to be about the same size at 3500 acres give or take. West or south looking.

Am I missing a better choice?
What would you recommend and why?

Looking at mid August just before school goes back in. Also looking for affordable pricing. The cheaper the house, the longer we stay.
Thanks.
John

My Dad had a home on Lake June for many years. I spent a lot of time there.

Both lakes are nice and I would probably choose the best house available. Make sure and ask about the sandy beach area because the hydrilla/lake weeds can grow quick. There are a few nice coves on Lake June that have calm water most of the time.

I'd choose a home on Lake June Road. Why? because you have a big selection and many of them have clear water on the lake.

I live in Lake Placid, and had a house on Lake Placid but moved to the country. Lake Placid is probably a little shallower, but probably either lake is about equal for skiing/wakeboarding as far as wind. Rental houses are more available on June, and there is a little restaurant (Jaxson's) on June that is a neat little hole in the wall. I personally like Placid a little better, but June has 2 public ramps and the one a HL Bishop park is easy and the nicest.
