Lucky for me I spend all my money on toys, my friends all spend money on girls. That being said instead of fishing with 8 people some experienced some not I decided a crabbing / clamming trip was a fantastic substitution. I can shoot south toward Barnegat Inlet or north to Manasquan. Crabbing is an easy score for me but my 2 clamming trips turned out to be a bust.

Can anyone help me out on a good location to make this a more productive fun day? Mind you the Clam Island area hasn't been too productive to myself beyond the chowder/bait clams. While I am being picky I have heard of some production sandy spots which would be even better cause it will allow us to just anchor swim eat etc.

come on now I am not giving out my numbers. What you can do is go near clam island and look for boats clamming. Other then that you are on your own.

The old timers tell me that out by the ICW 40 buoy between the 40 and the beach at the end of Laurel Blvd is a great spot for clamming but by rake for clams not a swimming spot. I have a house on that lagoon but have not tried it myself yet because we do more crabbing with the kids. I want to try near clam Island or near Myers hole with them but just never did.
