Can anyone let me know if there are any rockfish to be caught north of the bridge (love point, pooles island, etc etc) I am planning on fishing this week and just wondering whats going on. This will be my first rockfishing trip with my 5 year old, and hes expecting some fish!! lol

I was out Sat.
Spent the morning in the rain fishing the weed beds for bass with a frog. No current, some wind, 3 strikes, no hook ups.

Water temp 82, 83.
Once I left the shallow water I ran around just looking for a while.
Saw no fish below 15'- 16'. Thermocline.
Most were suspended in 12'- 15' of water.
Didn't catch any rock, only a few spot, catfish and white perch on Gulp blood worms in the afternoon. They were in 10'-12' and didn't see them on the sonar. They were small and tight to the bottom.
Funny, drift that Gulp through the suspended fish time after time and not even a nibble.
You would think something would take it.

Things are picking up North of the bridge. Keepers at the bridge and Podickery so your chances are good.

Chumming live lining or trolling bucktails?

Any of those will work. Its not a frenzy or anything but I have caught recently jigging bass assasins and live lining spot. Trolling Tsunamis has been working for a friend.
With a five year old onboard I would be prepared to bottom fish for some spot and croaker. Save a few for live lining.

I take my 3 year old daughter to seven foot knoll, white perch are running well there on grass shrimp. You are gaurnteed to catch atleast white perch. Rockfish are all over the place there as well but I haven't caught a keeper there yet.

Thanks. Hopefully we get some better weather in the next few days!
