It will be a shame if it does.

In Aus you don't go swimming in rivers of cape york and the northern territory as death by crocodile is a certainty.

West OZ has always been known for its great white sharks and other shark species. Going surfing here is risky but thousands of people surf every day. Every one knows that there are sharks and big ones at that out there, but the chance of getting taken is slim. People will always surf and sharks will sometimes eat surfers. Sure 5 deaths in 9 months is unprecedented. I have no problem of someone taking out a white if they KNOW it is a killer (ie the navy shooting one in the water in the vicinity of the attack on the day of the attack).

Scared of sharks, go fishing instead. Or swim at a beach with shark nets. Remember swimming at the beach was illegal in Australia until the early 20th century. THe fist shark nets deployed caught 10s of thousands in the first year alone.

the answer is not to kill the sharks. We've killed them for hundreds of years without much mercy. the answer is to fund research of how to co-exist with them. shark nets, shark deterrent ideas. don't just kill them. that just shows ignorance.

I doubt they will lift the ban anytime in the near future, this is just a Tabloid from the UK sensationalizing the story
