I will be installing a VHF radio in the electronics box. Instead of drilling holes in the top of the e-box, would 5200 hold the mounting bracket to the top of the e-box?

i have experience with standard silicone doing it and making removal a bit easier than 5200 would be...one of my boats had all the electronics mounted with silicone when i bought it...when i stripped them off the helm and hardtop were still like brand new...and they were on there pretty damned good...

Don't use 5200. If you ever decide to remove it, you will have a mess on your hands.
When I owned my GW 226, I installed a stereo enclosure, XM dock, and VHF, all with the 3M double sided "outdoor" tape - available at Home Depot. It held just fine no matter how rough the conditions were. This was the finished product:

get some 4200 (or bondo) and a piece of pvc board from lowes or home depot and stick the pvc board where you want it (using the 4200), then mount the vhf on top of it like it is supposed to, then when you have to get a new one or upgrade you will be ready to go.
