I may cross over cape Lookout this weekend. I know of course the knuckle is safe passage, but the long way around. I recall last year guys discussing the slot on here, but I can't find the old thread.
If someone can offer up a link, and present day recent passage info it would be much appreciated.

best way is to follow a charter boat through it and mark it as you go. should be plenty of traffic this weekend.

My plan is, drive down, gas boat, buy beer/groceries(in that order), launch boat, dock, buy bait, guess where fish are, throw darts at chart, take an average of dart hits, and then guess where the fish are:grin:;?.
I have no plan:o.

Depending on the direction of the swells and how much water you draw you can still run near the old slough. Head down the west side of the breakers off cape point towards shark island then as you reach the end of the breakers, cross and make a big sweeping U turn around the end of that shoal back towards the lighthouse. The eastern reef is all but completely filled in and there are a couple lumps but you can see them pretty easily. Once you hit 12' or so it's wide open. Next time I get to the boat I'll get a scren shot of the track we ran a couple weeks ago.
If there's an eastern swell forget it, and a large SW swell can make the western reef rather exciting but this weekend sounds like it will be no problem.

I left an anchor around the 240 last July- see if you can find it, you'll know it's mine if it has 20 feet of 5/16" galvanized chain.
Oh yeah, and look for my $40 gerber knife which slid off the baitwell into the big drink.
