I just purchased a 2004 Proline CC 20 sport with 200hp Yam on the back & a 70 galfuel tank. I got this boat to be able to fish inland & also on calm days be able to run out to the rigs for some snapper, amberjacks etc. My Question is how far (range) safely can I go offshore with this boat . Launching out of Fourchon,la or Vinice, La. Looking to go out with another boater but want to get a heads up on our range. Thanks in advance.

I had the same boat in the past with a 150 merc on the back. Is the Yami a HPDI, if so you should average around 1.7 mpg, If it's carb, you'll be around 1.0 mpg
Be sure to carry a EPIRB with you, hand held VHF for back up, with hand held GPS for back up and off shore vest etc
That Proline is a small hull, I had mine out in 3'-5' seas 20+ miles out, but it's a wet ride

Yes it is a HPDI Yam, do have 24 mile radar, vest, hand held VHF but not gps or EPIRB do need to get that ASAP.

EPIRB with built in GPS, their not to bad on price
FYI, the HPDI are known for VST filter changes, etc, I have the same motor, and their real pickey on bad gas
I just did everything, LP fuel pumps, HP/LP fuel filters, VST, HP Pump, sent the injectors out for cleaning etc
We were 35 miles out 2 weekends ago, and limped home with a fuel problem
Enjoy your new boat, and go catch some fish!

Range is hard to say, as we ran outta gas after going out 40 miles each way, trolling for 6 hours ,and moving around in the ocean. We ran out a mile from the dock :) Same motor, I'm getting 1.7 MPG
Just pick your days, and fill up before you go out, fish the day, and fill up when you return, and you'll get an idea what your using

Ok thanks for the heads up I did have the mechanic service all filters & so far its been running great. how often do you have to send your injectors off for cleaning?

Will have to do that on my next outing, trying to learn as much as I can about it before pushing any unknown limits

Sounds like you have a plan, most don't before they even leave the dock, you'll be fine, enjoy your boat
